The Independent opened its doors under the current name in February 2004, although music has been played at the site for more than thirty years. The Independent offers you live music five or six nights a week, as well as a small bar - but no food. It has been known to host the Noise Pop festival and offers multiple genres, local bands, and national acts. Bands playing the venue during May 09 include: Sean Hayes, The Botticellis, Goapele, Blue Turtle Seduction, Ozric Tentacles, and Riverboat Gamblers. There is ample room for bands to set up their merchandise tables at this venue, as well as for fans to dance.
