VENUE REVIEWS: BALAZO GALLERY (now known as Sub-Mission Art Space)
February 2nd 2009 03:05
Formerly known as El Balazo, Old Balazo and Balazo 18 Art Gallery, Sub-Mission Art Space can now be found in the Mission district at 2183 Mission Street. Their history is extensive with a relocation, the threat of closure due to City Hall regulations for licensing, and various changes of name across the years. They still offer 'a Latin owned and operated art gallery supporting local, international artists & musicians. We support all types of artists/bands with no bias against gender, ethnicity or sexual preference. '
Listed as a cultural attraction, music venue, and art gallery, you can contact Sub-Mission in relation to events, art matters and music performances on 650 550 0996. The venue can also be found online at www.sf-submission.com and their Myspace, Really Long Link
The venue serves beer and wine and is open daily - from 7 til 2am on Fri & Sat. Among the bands and events coming up soon, you can catch: Underground Railroad To Candyland or Red Handed in Feb, or Since Always (local), punk & ska-core night, and The Pepperpots from Spain in March.
