Thanks, Ian...
Q: How is the music scene in San Francisco progressing?
A: San Francisco is kind of a strange town, there is so much going on it's hard to really describe it. I can't say the scene has really progressed so much as it's really just maintained momentum. Every where you go in this town there are people that absolutely love music, and just about everybody has a band or some kind of music project, it's really great. The downside is that it can be difficult to get people out to a show because people are either playing a gig or going to see friend's band.
Q: I spotted a cross country tour in the My Revolver diary - tell me about that!
A: We went out across the country for two months over the summer in support of our debut album. It was a total blast! Our friend Gabe Shepard came with us on bass because Carlos couldn't leave his job. He was great and will always be an honorary member of the band. We played to mostly empty houses, but it was worth it. The only real bummer was when myself and our friends Ariana and Ian were in an accident outside of Tucson, Az. It was a very terrifying experience, we were in a separate car from the rest of the band and she was ejected from the car. I'll save you the details, but she's home and doing fine making a steady recovery.
Q: When I last spoke with you, you mentioned the band getting 'proper jobs' rather than having a continued involvement with local music… but thankfully you're still there! What plans lie ahead for the band at the current time?
A: We never had any intentions of leaving the music scene or quitting or anything like that. We've just grown up a bit, Billy and I graduated college, and it was just time to start work. But we still rock on a regular basis.
Q: Have there been any line-up changes since 2005?
A: Yes. Nick our old bassist left to work on his other music projects and now long-time friend and bassist of now defunct hardcore band Our Turn joined up. As I said before, our friend Gabe came with us on the road, but now we're back and so is Carlos.
Q: Are you still playing the Bay to Breakers each year?
A: In 2006, a different corporate sponsor took over and with it a change of the organizers. Before we had a friend who helped book the bands, but now we don't know who's in charge of that stuff and we've just been busy with other things. Maybe we'll play next year, but we were thinking about joining the party instead. Who knows, it's along time away.
Q: Have you made it to the Great American Music Hall yet?
A: No, not yet, but we've definitely come up though. We play the Bottom of the Hill on a regular basis and we had our record-release at Cafe du Nord. We'll get there soon, I'm sure.
Q: What music is currently available for My Revolver fans to purchase and/or download?
A: Soon it'll be available on iTunes and Rhapsody and all those sites. I've actually been lagging on all the paper work and that's why it's not up yet. Until then, we can always be contacted through Myspace and we can work something out.
Q: Could you name a few other local bands (3-4) that you suggest music fans check out if they haven't already?
A: Vows, Sugar and Gold, Zodiac Death Valley and Trainwreck Riders are four I can think of off the top of my head. They're all killer.
