The Record Release for The Bad Hand's latest offering, 'in this line wish you happiness' will be at 111 Minna Street at 11:11PM on 11 - 1 - 2008. Music starts at 9, It is a 21 event, ID is required, and will cost $5. The event is also listed as the 2nd Annual International Strawberry and Bacon Festival to be presented by Daly City Records.
QUOTE from the band:” Yes! We've made a new record. It took us two and half years to make. We threw it in the garbage twice. We fought and kicked and screamed over it but we did finally finish it and we are very proud of it. It is only twenty five minutes long but it is a very intense twenty five minutes at that. I do want to get one thing straight; the record title "in this LINE wish you happiness," has nothing to do with Cocaine or any other powder related illegal substance. The Bad Hand does not promote drug use. The title comes from Thailand. A few years ago I was a member of Plan USA. As a member of this organization I had a pen pal in Thailand. She was seven years old and lived in a tiny little village. I would pay a small monthly fee which would go to food for her family and education. We would write each other letters and send photos to each other. It was one of the more rewarding things I've ever been a part of. When she would write me she would write me in her home language and someone else would translate the letters for us. She would sign all of her letters "in this line wish you happiness," which is why we included the comma on the end of the title. By saying "LINE" she meant line of text. I think it is a beautiful way to say goodbye to someone and have been signing my emails with it for years now. A lot of people have been asking me about the title so I wanted to clear that up. Thanks.”

The Command Center, Oakland hosts an event labeled The Zombie Partyon November 1. Pleasure Kills and The Phenomenauts are among the bands listed to play this 18 event.
Meanwhile, The Lovemakers and The Heavenly States are among the bands listed to play a 21 show at The Uptown, Oakland on Saturday night. This show is set to roll from 9pm, tickets costing $15.
Don't bother heading to Slim's unless you already have tickets, the listed event is apparently already sold out.
Scissors For Lefty have an EP release set for The Rickshaw Stop, where they plan to play along with a UK band, Japanese Motors from Costa Mesa, and DJ Aaron Axelsen. Beginning at 8-30, this is listed as an all age event.
Saturday also offers music at Million Fishes Art Gallery, 2501 Bryant Street on Saturday. Thanksgiving and White Fang are among the bands listed to play this all age concert.
Madonna is visiting town and playing The Arena in Oakland in an all age show on Saturday night. However, as the cheapest tickets are $70 and range up to almost $400, you would need to be a mega-Madonna-fan or close to a millionaire to pass up on the local bands to attend her show instead.
