CD REVIEW: LYP ~ PHOSPHOR

November 16th 2008 23:24
Little Yellow Perfect's latest CD PHOSPHOR recently arrived in my bedroom hi-fi. (You may wish to read the LYP interview, which referred to this recording and was posted about a week ago.) Being one of my top ten bands, I was eager to hear the latest - and apparently, (see interview) their last as LYP - musical experience...

NAILS ON SKIN: Slides into a beat before the tune curls up ready for the rolling and metallicly crisp vocals, which are backed with full, thick music and a prominent bass. This tune has a catchy ending and would be a great track to blast out of your car window if you are a driver

You never know what you'll hear with these guys & I love that. The surprises amongst the music in this CD include a harmonica, banjo, and what sounds like trodden on beer cans. This compilation is primarily instrumental, though the odd vocal pops in, with the music or afterward.

YOUR SMELL IS YOUR NAME: A whirring intro leads into a blast of musical sounds. There is enough melody to be called a tune, and enough miscellaneous sound to be called an experience on this track

NOVEMBER 2008 INTERVIEW WITH LYP

The latest music from Little Yellow Perfect is also to be a digital release - but thankfully they are catering to their less tech-minded fans as well…
